Alongside the Design Director of Global Apparel & Bags, I participated in an archive styling exercise where we explored Timberland's iconic apparel archive, dating back to the 80's and their Atlantis days. Our goal was to curate looks that could be reinterpreted for today's fashion, showcasing how they would resonate in the current style landscape if displayed tomorrow.
Here, I’m showcasing a bit of my working process while ideating and creating what has now become the Timberland Lug Pattern.
I wanted to highlight forms of work we don’t typically associate with Timberland, but that are essential to daily life and have significantly influenced how we view work, life, and everything in between. With the rise of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, these once-overlooked forms of work have gained visibility and formed niche communities that connect people and educate others. What's fascinating is how some of these individuals become influential just by sharing their passions with the world. Trends like ‘Chefcore’ and ‘Gardencore’ show how the world is embracing a slower, more intentional way of living. Fashion is influenced by style, but style is shaped by culture, and these people are the ones driving and embodying that culture. There’s an opportunity to create unique pieces and build deeper communities inspired by these ways of life and forms of work.
